About Pleo
Here comes Pleo, an adorable robotic dinosaur that will almost make you wish his adult counterparts still roamed the Earth. But don't fear, because Pleo will always remain the same size as when he is "hatched" and provide hours of affection in return for love and attention from you.
Pleo is a life-sized replica of a real Camarasaurus as it would have looked as a newborn. Fortunately, Pleo won't grow to the intimidating 60-feet like its real-life counterparts when the herbivore roamed North America and parts of Europe during the late-Jurassic period.
What Pleo will do is entertain you, along with your family friends as it comes to life before ultimately displaying a range of emotions, animal sounds and reactions to its environment. Pleo isn't real, but its design and lifelike features may make some take a second look.
Pleo at times may be happy and playful one moment and sad a few minutes later. At times, Pleo may appear to be surprised or frightened. Left unattended for too long and he's likely to curl up and go to sleep like a dog.
The battery-operated Pleo was created by UGOBE. Based in Emeryville, California, is the source of cutting-edge robotics that transform inanimate objects into lifelike creations that, like a real pet, are packed with emotions and crave attention from humans.
UGOBE Life Forms look, move, and behave in such a way that they appear to really be alive. A combination of sensors, cameras, speakers, software and other technology all combine to create a robotic dinosaur with its own organic body language, exhibits evolving emotions, is aware of his surroundings and has recognisable behaviors that change over time. Pleo's "heart" is provided by UGOBE's Life OS, operating system software that not only brings him to life but also provides each with its own unique personality different from that of any other Pleo.
